In May 2004 the Cyberathlete Professional League started expanding the executive staff of the organization. Commencing with Scott Valencia, former executive director of CompUSA's national gaming division, and now Operations Director of CPL. Followed by Joseph Ahn, former co-founder and Vice President of WCG North America, and now CPL's Business Development Director. The league also assigned Justin Blanchard as Commissioner; and Tom Gardner as Managing Director of its wholly-owned subsidiary the Cyberathlete Amateur League.
Today, the CPL announced the appointment of Matthew Jones as Online Commerce Director to help manage the league's growing Internet-based transactions efficiently and securely.

Matthew Jones has spent the last decade designing and implementing secure Internet applications. Matthew was one of the original founders of the Go Network, a collection of community content sites sold to Walt Disney in 1997. Matthew also founded and served as Chief Operating Officer of NetFire.com, an Internet Service Provider recently acquired by Speakeasy. Over the years he has developed and provided secure Internet solutions for Pharmacia, Novell, Mack Trucks, Oracle, Whirlpool, and Ritz-Carlton. Matthew currently serves as Chief Technology Officer for iTransact, Inc, a financial services company specializing in secure Internet-based payment technologies. He holds a BS in Business Management from UVSC.
