Yup, it's another chart! But don't worry, this one isn't slanderiferous.

As many of you know, both AMX Mod and AMX Mod X have started using the JIT core, which was rumored to be to up "10 times faster" than the normal C implementation of the Small core.

The JIT is written in pure assembly and compiles ".amx" files to pure machine code. The ASM core is written in pure assembly and translates ".amx" to machine calls on the fly. The normal core, written in C, simply interprets ".amx" code into C.

So, how do these three ways of compiling AMX Mod * compare? Why is the JIT so important? Check out the benchmarks!

The IOS Movie contest organised by Pepper has begun. Win a chance to help test Beta 4 and more.


It has to be an IOS related movie.
The movie you send in should be made especially for this contest.
You can make an in-game movie, a render movie, a real-life movie or whatever you want.
In each movie, the "IOS Movie Contest" picture has to be included in any way you want. (the links can be found at the end of this post)
The movie should last up to 60 seconds, no longer.
Maximum file size is 20MB.
You're only allowed to send in 1 movie. So take your time with it to make it perfect.

The contest ends on 30.09.2004. Movies which have been sent in later wont get judged at all. (If you have sent a mail but I had no time

Well DragonDude has been working really hard at coding in new attacks, the Power Points system etc. And he's almost ready to release a new Inteam among the Team and Testers. While I was in there helping him test the Life-Up secondary feature (healing others) we had a little fun. I'd like to think I did pretty good:

There are 2 points to my update today. The first point is very important to the continued enjoyment of a tactical game and the second is to welcome 3 new team members.

This is actually an edit to an earlier post because I thought it had to be done.

There are apparently some servers that punish players for playing the game RIGHT. Yes, you heard me. There are newbie servers that have no concept of what Hostile Intent is, what HI is about, and what HI stands for in gameplay and they are ruining the experiences of our fellow players and loyal community members.

I'm not going to name any names. I'm sure; after you read this you will know I'm talking about you.

So, for your information, Hostile Intent is a "realistic" tactical squad based shooter. For me it's more of a simulator at times. Now, if your a tango and your defending you ought to keep your ass put, don’t move and you better defend the objective!

The odd thing is it’s the players that know this but the server admin have no fricking clue! There are servers out there that punish people for not rushing! Can you believe it? I'll die before I let HI tune into a run and gun fest.

In Hostile Intent, if the situation warrants, camp your ass off. You heard me correctly. C A M P. Sit tight or move really really slow cause it’s your ass on the line out there. Personally if I were the last NATO left alive I'd stay put and only move when i knew it was clear.

And how can I be wrong? I designed the game!

Don’t be a server newbie and don’t show your HI newness. Learn the play the game. Then host one. Personally I don’t care if you pull your servers from us. I'm fine with that.

And another note. If you’re new to HI LISTEN to the veteran players. They will teach you how to play HI. Yeppers, there is a WAY to play HI and a lot of you are playing it wrong. If you see a D or a T icon in front of someone’s name, stick with that person. He/she will show you how to play and I guarantee you will have much more fun using real teamwork.

OK. I'm done. On to the "real" news....

Everyone give Quicksilver, JRandal and Aaron a big hello!

All three have been added to the team reciently and both are looking forward to working on HI 1.4 and HI:PR on Source.

As most of you know, Quicksilver is a leveldesigner and will begin churning out fantastic maps (on pain of death) and Aaron is a programmer with 5+ years experence with many different sorts of code. He's looking to expand his horizons and learn the HL SDK while working on Hostile Intent. He also likes being caught in the rain, long walks on the beach, and listening to David Hasselhoff love songs in their origional german and JRandal is an animator extraordinaire who will be making the new weapon model animations for our rocket launcher, DEagle, and mortors.

Welcome to the real world............

Chaos takes place in the year 2026, it has been 20 years since the terrorist group known as Paradoxos began their attacks on city capitals of the world.

We're taking back our freedom is what they told people. All they did was murder so many innocent lives. All they truely accomplished was bringing the world back into the darkages, more like a living hell if you ask me.

Most of the world is now run by Neo-Nazi affiliates, gangs like the Diablos, Crypts, Kings, etc, and a bunch of other crazy organizations. The main enemies is ofcaurse the chaos group known as the Paradoxos. and the strongest group that can stop them is the DC Rebelion(the good guys), and to beat the Paradoxos, we must defeat and take back the last of our technology from the remnants of the US miliary run by whats left of the shadow goverment. Most of the world has been destroyed by nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons as well as evil bloodthirsty men driven by power and greed.

Chaos offers a multiplayer with several modes as well as single player story.

Hey guys, anonymousity here with a HUGE update! Well, our modelers and skinners have been busy at work trying to prepare our weapon skins and such.

A quick reminder on our playable sides, we will feature three teams; the wealthy Black Buccaneers, the undead Cursed Pirates, and the clever Cut Throats. Each side will have its own stregnths and weaknesses, but they all come down even in the end.
I'll start out with our pistols..

This pistol belongs to the Black Buccaneer team. It's a prototype pistol, equivalent to the power ratios of the modern day Desert Eagle. Only a team as wealthy as the Black Buccaneers can afford a pistol like this one.


The Cursed Pirate's have an easier way of dealing with unwanted shipmates. They simply blow 'em up to pieces with their Double Barrelled Flintlock pistol. It's primary fire allows you to fire one shot at once, it's secondary fire allows you to fire both shots at the same time.



Finally, the Cut Throat's have a speedier alternative when it comes to small arms. They prefer to use dual 'Forgotten Flintlock' edition pistols. Even though these pistols lack in power, they certainly make up for it in speed.

Pistols aren't all that are included in tonights update... we also have the Harpoon Gun!



We're thinking this may be one of the more enjoyable weapons in the game. In theory, the Manipulator/Anti-Gravity gun's coding can be used to allow the Harpoon Gun to have retractable arrow capabilities. What this means is- you can shoot an enemy with a harpoon, and bring him back to you using an attached rope! Hopefully that will work out as we plan it to.

And what would a Cut Throat be without his daggers?



Being both throwable and useful in melee combat, these double daggers are a Cut Throat's best friend.

Last but not least, we've finished the Rowboat!



This 5-man oar-powered ship will be included in all large vessels (for emergency and scouting purposes).

Our next update will hopefully show off our Whip, Muskets and some items and tools. Some news on our site as well... We have a professional website in the works, but we will be putting up a temporary PhPnuke site this week.
