Hi everyone... Sven here. Just writing a quick update to let you know what's been going on with me. The 3.0 Content Pack is currently uploading, by the way, and should be available as soon as we can get it to mirrors.

I'm really sorry about disappearing :/. I'm studying full-time as well as working part-time at the moment, and together with other things, I've been having a lot of trouble keeping up. On top of that, a power surge fried my system about two months ago, causing a lot of trouble... all my e-mail was on there, just for one thing. The system was on a surge protector, but I guess maybe previous power surges had worn it out. Luckily the hard discs turned out to be OK, and the system's back and working again now, but getting it fixed took up a lot of time (wasn't that cheap, either). The place that was supposed to repairing the system lost or forgot about it a few times, for example.

Because of all this, I'm way, way behind on my e-mail. If you made a donation over the last while, hopefully you'll hear from me soon. I'll post a news update once I'm up-to-date on that... if you haven't received a reply by then, please contact me again.

Afraid I might easily miss e-mails not relating to donations. If you e-mailed about anything really important, please re-send. If your e-mail is something that doesn't need to be specifically answered by me, I'd really appreciate it if you could try asking on the Forums instead... I'm really swamped at the moment. Thanks!

On that subject, special thanks to Sniper for running everything for so long!!! Thanks also to Mad Jonesy for helping out by getting the content pack together! I hope I can get some more time soon, but the way things have been going, don't know if it's that likely :(.

The Official 3.0 Content Pack has been released!. Check out the website for links

After a successful demo release, I have decided to release a upgraded version of the demo. This 'new' demo will contain added single player maps, and new multiplayer maps. I haven't decide how many maps I'm going to add , but it may be quite a few. The multiplayer maps will be properly built for the recoded engine. That means, unlike the multiplayer map that came with the first demo, these ones will contain all the new available weapons as well as other features.

I'm not setting a release date because my this project is heavily blessed with bad luck. Wish us the best! If you still haven't downloaded the demo, get it here!

Check out our mod profile or site for more details!

SMILING GATOR PRODUCTIONS CHOOSES SOURCE(TM)

Source Engine Licensed for Massive Multiplayer Roleplaying Game

September 21, 2004 - Valve®, developer of innovative technologies and award-winning games, today announced a Source engine licensing partnership with Smiling Gator Productions. Already in development, Twilight War: After the Fall is a Source-based Massive Multiplayer Roleplaying Game (MMRPG) for the PC.

The Valve Source engine technology, the same used to create Half-Life 2, gives developers the ability to create expressive digital actors and physically simulated worlds. It also offers advanced rendering capabilities and the industry's most convincing artificial intelligence.

"The Source engine is one of the gaming world's premier technologies, we are thrilled about the features it will bring to Twilight War: After the Fall," says Kingsley Montgomery, Vice President of Development at Smiling Gator Productions. "Its combat system, physics, and advanced AI are exactly what we were looking for to enable the exciting features we are developing for our game. We evaluated several game engines and concluded that Valve's was the only choice for us. In addition to being a top-notch product, their support has been excellent."

Smiling Gator Productions joins Troika Games and Arkane Studios as announced Source licensees. Source is designed for the creation of games from all genres, and contains a host of proprietary tools for level editing, character direction and more.

"We are eager to see the Source engine used for an MMRPG by Smiling Gator Productions," said Gabe Newell, Valve's C.E.O. "The ability to render realistic environments and create compelling characters with true-to-life emotional expressions will be a great innovation for one of the industry's most promising genres."

Finally, after nearly one year of working out and improving the concept to our game we made ourselves a nice little website and a fancy domain. Yes, this will be the future home of the Skull & Crossbones modification.

If you are new to this site and the project you probably have a lot of questions. In this case we'd like to point you to our "Details" section in which you can find an FAQ and lots of information about our gamemodes, ships and weapons.

We did not want to start out completely empty with nothing but a concept and the will to make this project, so we already prepared some concept images, waiting for you in our "Media" section.
Here a little foretaste:

Feel free to visit our forums and IRC channel as well. You can find us in #skullandcrossbones on the lovely GameSurge network (irc.gamesurge.net). Oh, and please keep in mind that the forums are still under construction, so don't complain about the design yet.

Furthermore, we'd like to announce that we are urgently in need of skilled people who are willing to help us, since we are still in the beginning stage and we are but three people so far.
We are especially in need of modelers, mappers and animators. If you like our idea of this mod and can imagine working with a team like ours, you are welcome to drop us a line.

Other than that we cannot add anything more than...
...Hoist the sails and full speed ahead!

I have spaired some time and have developed a more orginized gallery. I now have it davided into catagories. I thought the other way was a bit cluttered, which it still is; but will be worked out with time.

Update: I fixed a little big that did not allow users to download Modules. With that fixed, I have also added a color coding system that will show what downloads are popular, and which ones arent so hot. Another fix was the borders showing up in Mozilla. Thanks Tech Report :-)

G4M3RS, the first documentary to tell the story of competitive computer gaming and the Counter-Strike community, is finally making its Hollywood debut. The film, which had its world premiere at the 2003 CPL Summer Event, has been selected to screen at the 2004 Silver Lake Film Festival. The prestigious festival honoring independent films will show G4M3RS on Sunday, September 26 at the Arclight Theatre in Los Angeles. The thrilling climax of G4M3RS was filmed at the 2002 CPL Summer Championships.

G4M3RS is the definitive story of Counter-Strike, the most popular first-person multiplayer computer game in the world. The film traces Counter-Strike's humble origins from a mod made by high school students in 1999 to the high stakes international competitions of the Cyberathlete Professional League. Along the way, you will meet the people who have made this unique game the phenomenon that it has become...the players, the organizers, the creators and the spectators. The film also features interviews with Counter-Strike co-creator Jess Cliffe, CPL founder Angel Munoz, and Counter-Strike players from all over the world.

Last week, news of Valve finally shipping the Half-Life 2 release candidate to publisher Vivendi Universal Games (VUG) grabbed headlines. However, behind the scenes, the two companies have been involved in a much less upbeat kind of transaction--an ongoing legal battle that has garnered little attention from gamers.
On August 14, 2002, Valve served its then-publisher Sierra On-Line (now Sierra Entertainment, a Vivendi Universal Games brand) with a lawsuit in US District Court of Washington, Western Division, alleging copyright infringement--the result of Sierra placing Valve games in Internet cafes in the US and abroad. "Sierra has in the past and continues to reproduce, use, distribute, and/or license one or more of the Valve Games with regard to 'cyber cafes,'" the complaint read. "Sierra's activities are outside the scope of Sierra's limited license...and therefore constitute copyright infringement in violation of the Copyright Act of 1976."
