Source: Frontline Message BoardMy friend over at Frontline Message Board just posted his review of CS: Source. Very nice indeed...
7 October was the day that the Half-Life 2 Packages could be preordered via Steam, so I got my ATI Coupon from the shelf and registered for a free Bronze version, after downloading several files I got a a Credit Card out and upgraded it to the Gold version. And then it was time to finally enjoy the full version of Counter-Strike: Source.

With the completion of the player model animations last week, things are now moving very fast.We are averaging a new test release (sometimes even two) a week, and we are busy adding last minute things that we have always wanted to do - we should have something out for the beta testers to jump in soon, and release shortly after that. Therefore this is a all call to mappers: start mapping for G.H.O.S.T. and submitting them for final beta. If anyone is interested please speak to Crackerjack, Adam.Atomic or post in the mapping forums for more information. Crackerjack is working on an FAQ/guide for the mappers and it should answer most of your questions. Just be patient - we are almost there, and hopefully we can get this baby out before HL2.

“You see, it's a gun fight. We both have guns. We aim, we fire, you die.” There has been a large update to the entire Wanted: Outlaws and Lawmen site. There are over ten new renders, a plethora of new information, and an updated FAQ. There is a full page on horses and the newly devised SHERIFF system, allowing the person in first place of the Lawmen to become the Town Sheriff. Also the forum is up, so post away!

Just updating you guys on the state of things. We haven't revealed much media lately. We are about to go into a phase of skinning. Pretty much everything considered to be a final article is going to get skinned. Then we'll have some nice media to show you. Actually finished media, not the items presented on the forums which are outdated pieces. The story is being updated. So expect some news based on that soon. Now that most people in the dev team are settled back into thier education/jobs things will start to pick up. We will also be expanding the team very soon, so expec some info on that.
One of our lovely devs (that's me, by the way) took some screenshots of the recently released CS: Source. My verdict? It's absolutely incredible. A few bugs / missing features, but nothing that can't be cleared up with some patches. After all, it's not like we all paid for CS:S alone. It's more like a gift for preordering. So far, we are planning to have two separate C&C Modes. The first will be the traditional one, more familiar to that from Renegade. The second is more team-oriented and command based (which will also prove useful to clans). This was just to clear up how the multiplayer aspect will work, and more specific information on each mode will be released when it is finalized.

After a break RTTF is back. Expect weekly media updates along with gameplay topics from the devs. Originally Posted by Bob"Pistols still exist however. However you will only grab the weapon and its current ammo count. To find more ammo you will have to search once again. During this time you will be open to attack. Also ammo can be used between weapons if it is the correct size. This too will take time but if your in a pinch it could save your life.Originally Posted by NoSpoonSinse this is a realistic mod, will there be any one shot kills? In real life, didnt one shot just from a pistol sometimes almost kill someone or atleast knock the person down?We hope to apply vital organs when dealing with hit detection. By doing so one shot kills will happen often with a good aim. Players will be knocked down from various events and wounds. Examples include: leg wounds, stomach wounds, shellshock, and explosions. But in a game competing against other players, you might want to know who you killed and who killed you.No type of death message will be included. The object of RNL is for "teams" of players to compete against each other. With that said only team scores will be viewable.Originally Posted by NoSpoonMaybe you guys can make it so if you survive for along time, the players get dirtier and get darker faces from the dirt and from all the exposures from the battles. such as crawling, dirt getting on you, explosions, ect. This feature may happen if time allows. Well that wraps up this weeks questions. Expect more of the same next week.
