It's been a while since I posted about the story website. Making stories has been fun, but we don't feel like making new ones anymore. As for the old stories, we can't just upload them and list it. It's too much work for me, and I don't feel like doing that. We've had some php coders in the past, who've promised to make us a script that could able our team to upload stories themselves... so it won't be just me uploading them and adding them to a list by hand.

Anyway, all of those guys left. So I give up. Finaly.

IF SOMEONE WANTS TO TAKE OVER THIS SITE, EMAIL ME NOW.

LOS ANGELES (October 18, 2004) – Vivendi Universal Games (VU Games) today announced that Half-Life® 2, the sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed PC titles in gaming history, will ship to retail outlets around the world in November. The Company confirmed that Half-Life 2, developed by Valve Software, has gone gold with a planned retail street date of November 16, 2004. The countdown to the highly anticipated retail street date has begun around the world, as VU Games completes plans to ship localized versions of Half-Life 2 simultaneously in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Korean, Thai and Japanese.

“Half-Life 2 has surpassed our expectations in every sense – its high-quality graphics, ground-breaking physics and immersive first-person shooter gameplay set a new standard for PC action games,” said Bruce Hack, CEO of VU Games. “Half-Life 2 will go down as one of the best-selling PC titles, and we are thrilled to deliver this ground-breaking title to the worldwide gaming community this fall.”

Hailed as “...the best game ever made” by PC Gamer, Half-Life 2 earned a top-rated review score of 98, the highest score bestowed by the magazine in more than six years. The game has received numerous accolades for its technical excellence, captivating story and addictive game play, including more than 10 awards and nominations at the 2004 Electronic Entertainment Expo. In addition to being named “Best PC Game” by 1up.com (Ziff Davis) and Gamespy.com, the title also received a “Technological Excellence on PC” award from IGN.com. CNNMoney.com stated that “Half-Life 2 will redefine what gamers expect from their games visually – and the gameplay is a lot of fun as well.”

The global anticipation for Half-Life 2 has reached unprecedented heights, as consumers around the world mark their calendars to buy the game at retail on November 16th. The Half-Life 2 product will include Counter-Strike: Source. VU Games will also release a Half Life 2 Collector’s Edition that will include Half-Life 2 in DVD-ROM format, Counter-Strike: Source, Half-Life: Source, a free limited edition t-shirt, and a Half-Life 2 Prima strategy guide book.

The original Half-Life game was launched in 1998 under VU Games’ Sierra Entertainment publishing label. It earned more than 50 game-of-the-year awards and has been heralded as one of the best PC first-person shooter games of all-time.

About Half-Life® and Half-Life® 2

In 1998, Half-Life revolutionized the game industry with its combination of pounding action and continuous, immersive storytelling. Valve’s debut title was named “Best PC Game Ever” by PC Gamer and launched a franchise with more than eight million retails units sold worldwide. In 2004, Half-Life 2 will take the suspense, challenge and visceral charge of the original to new heights of realism and responsiveness. Half-Life 2 opens the door to a world where the player’s presence affects everything around him, from the physical environments to the behaviors – even the emotions – of both friends and enemies. The player again picks up the crowbar of research scientist, Gordon Freeman, who finds himself on an alien-infested Earth being picked to the bone, its resources depleted and its population dwindling. Freeman is thrust into the unenviable role of rescuing the world from the wrong he unleashed back at Black Mesa. And a lot of people – people he cares about – are counting on him. The intense, real-time gameplay of Half-Life 2 is made possible only by Source, Valve’s new proprietary engine technology. Source provides major enhancements in the advanced facial animation system, physics, graphics and AI. Half-Life 2 will be available for the PC.

I have a bit of an announcement that may make all you trigun fanboys jump for joy in jubilation. As many of you undoubtly noticed over the course of the past few weeks we have seem to become dimmer and dimmer. With school occupying our current schedules its hard to find time to communicate amongst ourselves, let alone develop the modification at a steady pace. This, however, does not mean we are dieing - far from it. The modification will be on hiatus for a few weeks and/or months. The reason for this is due to the fact that we simply are swamped with real-life work thats is currently keeping us away from the mod community, and for this we apologize. But do not fear people. I bring to you - a gift. Lets call it a token of my appreciation for keeping up with this modificiation, and all its hardships(although not many, they are still hardships nontheless). I have decided to release all of our models. What does this mean? This means you can now either use the Vash or Knives player models in Half-Life, and use their assortment of weapons. The current pack includes:

  • Both Vash and Knives player models

  • Vash and Knives revolver, and Vash's auto armcannon

  • The sounds for each gun are assigned

While it is not much it is still something. These models are much more high-quality than the current Trigun Half-Life models circling the internet at the moment, and I am sure none of you will disagree. The only downside to this is that these models are only useable while playing The Specialists, although I do grant anyone permission to convert these models at their own freewill. Now a bit of legal issues:

Trigun is a copyright of Yasuhiro Nightow, Young King Comics, Madhouse, and Pioneer. Any use of these models for commercial use is strictly unpermitted without the permission from the proprietors. The models were made by Ryosuke and VashTS. If you modify any of the models you will still need to give credit to the original authors. (Basically: Dont sell these models - people may sue you :))

Geez, you must've been bored listening to me blabber eh? I'll shut up now, so you can go download the models! Enjoy.

We're back! We now have a proper site - enjoy! This should help a bit with admin and general mod-awareness. As far as bugs go, I know about the comments text and I'm working on it. Other stuff to the forums. Couple of notices for team members:
E-mail me an avatar and I'll get you set-up for news
We've got a groupware SDE and I are testing... more on that later.

Smilies are a work in progress for the news system. I've got to upload a tonne and then add individual "replacers" for each.

Flipside has decided to hold a few contests to help spread the word out about the game, and get some fan artwork and media going. Here is the link to the contest information, but I'm going to explain them some.

We're giving away a copy of the Bronze Steam version of Half-Life 2 for the number one contest. The rest of the prizes might change as we go along, but they are spots as in the closed beta tests with the team and select individuals throughout the community.

So get in there, and check out it out!
