Since yesterday's devchat on QuakeNet, HLEB has gained rather many more supporters. You can now find our official channel on QuakeNet, rather than GameSurge, we chose QuakeNet over GameSurge due to the amount of supporters we currently have on there.

We have also said within the team that since the devchat, we have started a new revolution in HL:EB.

Once again, all the team would like to thank everyone who came along to the devchat yesterday, and we would also like to thank all the QuakeNet crew who helped with the devchat.

We give special thanks to Voronoi, Abdul, magpie and the rest of the QuakeNet crew, for letting us start the amazing revolution of HL:EB.

I'd like to say a massive thanks to all those who have put so much time and energy into contributions to the submissions gallery, especially Zer07. None of your work goes unnoticed and it all influences our thoughts and plans for the final game.

We don't provide quite as many updates as you'd probably like but don't forget the video (media release 2/2) is coming and what a treat it's going to be!

With Halflife 2 around the corner and the Software Development Kit hopefully close behind we will soon be hiring mappers and coders - if you think you're talented enough for the job then please let me know (See bottom of ABOUT page for contact details).

As far as Hull Breach goes we have many new members, the core team now numbering close to 60 and with contributors helping out as well it's a management nightmare, but we're coping nicely. All character designs have been completed and modelling is almost done as well. The art team are now focusing on scenario development and the new environmental art team are of a standard that will drop jaws. The piece below is courtesy of one of our latest recruits, the talented Chris Mayernik.

Please do feel free to join in the forum discussions and let us know your thoughts. The new website is coming... I promise!

I am please to welcome Dark Raven as a news poster to Half-Life Gaming. He will be helping me post news during the week during the times I can not.

He currently runs his own HL2 Fan site, Frontline Message Board and is the co-admin for HL2 Files.

Thank you very much Dark Ravem

Erik Johnson from Valve reported in the comments of CS Nation that they are working on more content for Counter-Strike: Source. Old maps, new models and even a brand new map for the game:

We're working on porting some more of the classic maps right now, currently de_prodigy is in the works. We'll be releasing this as quickly as they are completed.

We're also working on one original map, which will begin internal playtesting this week. This still means we have a fair amount of work to do on it.

We're also working on two updated player models.

Most of this is scheduled to be released in the December timeframe.

The team of Natural Selection posted the following status update over at ModDB:

With NS v3.0 beta 5 out the door, the NS development team is already hard at work on beta 6. After a development meeting that laid out the foundation of what we need to include (bug fixes/balance) and what new elements we feel make sense at this time, we are beginning to feel like there is a possibility that beta 6 will bring us to our objectives and allow us to make beta 6 NS 3.0 final. We're planning a number of balance changes, specifically to improve the gameplay experience of alien players in very small and large games, a number of cosmetic improvements, and of course, more bugfixes.

Mini Wars is a new mod that has been announced for Half-Life 2. Mini Wars is a mod that will feature the following gameplay:

I would like to announce a new building blocks-themed mod for Half-Life 2, Mini Wars. Everything in the mod will center on the mini theme from maps and character models to weapons. Maps will all appear to be made out of Legos and the character models will be based on the Lego guys (they won't match the Lego guys exactly for copyright reasons). There will be many unique weapons, such as a flame thrower that operates on matches and lighter fluid, Snap 'n' Pop grenades that explode on contact, and a sniper rifle made out of a mechanical pencil.
