Source: The Hostile Report
I recently got a chance to sit down with some members of the dev team, and asked them a few questions about the HI 1.4.
Swatman: Can you tell us what is planned after 1.4? Will the dev team split its forces to develop content for HL1, or will you totally focus on the Source engine? Also, can you tell us the community role in the switch to the Source engine?

Marmalade Man: Our post-1.4 plans consist of moving the development team's focus to the Source engine. We will also be opening up the design of Hostile Intent on HL1 slightly to allow for more community content to be implemented into the game. On a very literal level, if a modeler wishes to submit a completed model for inclusion into the game, the team will evaluate it and consider including it in an official release. Similarly for mapping, if a mapper wishes to submit a completed map, the team will give it serious consideration.

HalfLife2.net reports about a great sounding Half-Life remake for the Source engine that is being set up by jheaddon from their forums. The mod will be a complete remake of the original game, here some words:

The plan is to remake HL1 completely from scratch, rebuilding and improving on everything. Xen will be completely biomechanical and the other locations will be familiar but they'll be made more realistic. It wont be a simple change textures and models - every single bit of it will be remade to the best of Source's abilities.

You can read up on his progress here, help out here and also check some great looking concept art pieces here at HalfLife2.net.
